CSCs are points of access where people living in rural and remote locations can use the e-governance system to connect to government initiatives and services. These points provide people with the convenience of getting connected to different government schemes as well as services through the internet connection.
Eligibility Criteria for CSC VLEs
Given below are the eligibility criteria to opt for CSC VLEs:
- A candidate should be at least 18 years of age.
- He or she should have a senior secondary pass certificate from a recognized institution.
- He or she should have a basic computer knowledge.
- The applicant should be fluent in English, Hindi, and the regional language of the particular state where he or she is residing.
The Common Service Center Scheme has been designed by the Government for providing e-services to the citizens by establishing a common centre under the Digital India Programme. Eligible applicants can start CSC by approaching the Service Center Agency (SCA) of that particular area.
The following are the required CSC infrastructure:
- The building/room has a place of 100 to 150 square feet.
- Two printers (Dot Matrix + Inkjet).
- Webcam.
- RAM of at least 512 MB storage capacity.
- V-SAT Connectivity. Wireless/ Wired.
- Hard Disc Drive of starting 120 GB.
- CD/DVD Drive.
- Biometric or IRIS authentication scanner from banking services.
- The total estimated cost per CSC will be 1.25 to 1.50 lakh except for building and land.
